Job Description:
Responsible for the proper maintenance and operation of complex electrical systems and equipment that can directly affect the operation of a 22-megawatt power generation plant. Essential Job Function: Maintain all plant electrical equipment to the highest possible standard to maximize plant availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability. Install, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and perform preventive maintenance on all plant electrical components as assigned, including UPS/battery systems. Perform routine and emergency plant electrical troubleshooting and maintenance functions including, but not limited to motors, MCCs, relays, breakers, electrical disconnects of rotating machinery, and all electrical hand tools. Must work with high voltage circuitry on 115v, 480V, 4160V and 13,800V breakers, starters, and electric motors of all sizes. Must be able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, control wire diagrams and other written instructions to evaluate all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and national codes. Analyze electrical problems and take action to correct. Advise supervisor when outside assistance from vendors, engineering contractors, and/or consultants is necessary. In addition, must be able to assist with and coordinate work of maintenance with contractors and subcontractors. Install electrical conduit and pull wires, trace wires, etc. Maintain records of readings, test results, and data on all electrical related equipment during overhauls, emergencies and preventive maintenance times. Track performance and maintain history to assess condition (predictive maintenance) of plant electrical equipment. Maintain and review such records and report findings as required. Recommend equipment operating and/or maintenance changes, which will enhance plant operation and equipment availability. Ensure facility continues to operate under NFPA70E guidelines. Coordinate daily work activities and equipment repairs with other plant employees. Work with them in various nonelectrical tasks to facilitate continued plant operation. Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on equipment failures. Assist with routine maintenance, safety, electrical and equipment operation training of other site employees. Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the plant in a clean and neat condition.
